ATC Task Force Report here

  • Craigtfees 09:26, 28 June 2006 (BST) . Communication depends on the nature of the organisation: They determine each other. If, following Bob Hinshelweood, ATC is a participatory democracy, which has lost its regular roving conferences, then the tools now exist via the web to re-create that participation. If it is a representative democracy, then it needs to develop the tools of communication which enable it to respond and be transparent and accountable to the people and organisations it represents. If it is and is content to be something like an elected (although even that word is suspect when so few members vote and there is no provision for someone who stands not being elected) self-selecting oligarchy, then the emphasis is on getting our own act together in terms of communication within the organisation - to keep it from collapsing or drifting into danger - , with some nod to the members to keep them on board, and generating more effective and efficient-appearing communication with the Outside to gather and retain a sense of authority and power as a governing/executive body.

Ian Milne 10:15, 1 July 2006 (BST)

  • Change can usually only happen in an organisation in one of 4 ways. Each of these affect communication and are affected by communication.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Communication with Members

Communication with Ourselves

Communication with Others

Craigtfees 18:45, 27 June 2006 (BST). Communication with members is virtually non-existent. If I were an ordinary member, and expected the ATC to be any kind of democratic organisation (participatory OR representative) I would quit. Admin-Executive-Admin
  • Craigtfees 18:45, 27 June 2006 (BST). The Admin Team are our 'experts by experience'. Do we properly consult/involve them in decisions in which they have expertise? Examples for discussion:
    • Windsor papers/presenters/attenders
    • Community of Community ATC membership
    • Proposed membership admin take over by CofC
